Department of Nanotechnology and Functional Materials

I had an eight month coop position in Sweden at Uppsala University. I was given the opportunity to design and execute my own experiments and was able to create a novel synthesis method for highly porous magnetic carbon for environmental applications.

Micro Engineering Dynamics and Automation Laboratory

As a member of the MEDAL lab I was involved in designing parts for different processes. This was done in Solidworks and Inventor. I also worked a lot with an AFM and a compression molding machine and performed Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy.

Shaw

During my time at Shaw, I learnt how to organize and execute a hardware trial for over 400 people. I was also given the opportunity to present at a very high level, the results of a hardware trial. For the most part my work was done in Excel and PowerPoint. However, as I was a part of a big team, learning how to effectively and clearly communicate was also a valuable skill I developed.
